According to data compiled by Lori Lewis and Officially Chadd on Visual Capitalist, a single internet minute holds 1 million Facebook logins, 4.5 million videos watched on YouTube, 1.4 million swipes on Tinder, Inc. (right or left, we can’t say for sure), and a total of 41.6 million messages sent on WhatsApp Inc. and Facebook Messenger. That same internet minute also contains 3.8 million Google queries, 357,222 scrolls on Instagram, and almost a million dollars spent online.
Visual Capitalist compiled this data last year and didn’t find huge movements from some key players on the web. Facebook logins and Google searches stayed pretty much stagnant from one year to the next, with Google adding an additional 100,000 searchers in a minute in 2019 and Facebook adding under 30,000 logins. Other platforms have had a more robust 2019 minute when compared to their 2018 minute, with Netflix almost tripling the amount of people watching its content and Instagram nearly doubling the number of people scrolling through feeds on its platform.
